It was a pleasure to have Dave Shelton in school on Monday 20th February. He was extremely friendly and approachable and spent time signing books and talking with children and staff throughout the day. In particular our Librarians were really excited to spend time with Dave and asked him lots of questions. His talk to the whole of KS2 was pitched well and included lots of interesting links to his own work and inspiration behind it. He also emphasised the importance of needing to edit your work and the importance of being resilient. The children were extremely engaged in the workshops. Thank you Dave

It was a real pleasure to have Teresa visit our school. Our children were absolutely fascinated with the insight they were provided from her explanations of the writing process. It was truly priceless for our children to be so inspired and some have already begun writing their own stories!

What can I say! We had such a fantastic day with Danielle. Firstly, she conducted engaging and inspirational assemblies for our Year 9 and 10 cohorts. This has already led to increased interest, not only in her own novels, but also the likes of Malorie Blackman, Alice Oseman, Patrice Lawrence, Dean Atta and Angie Thomas. Some of the students who previously showed little interest in writing as a career have already approached me to discuss further some of the ideas Danielle suggested yesterday. This was followed by two writing workshops with some of our Y7 and Y8 students. During this time the students created the most wonderful poetry after a free-writing exercise. I highly recommend inviting Danielle Jawando to spend time in your school. She provided our students with a lovely day, sharing her knowledge and experience in an approachable and relatable manner. We look forward to her return visits in the future. Thank you Danielle.

I am pleased to say that Penny Joelson came to The Chalfonts Community College on Thursday 23rd February and gave a fantastic presentation to 295 Year 7, 8 and 9 students. The students thoroughly enjoyed the experience and they gave some great feedback on a Survey Monkey that was sent out to them. She also did a workshop with 35 students and this was also a huge success. The students enjoyed it. I would not hesitate to recommend her to other schools. Kind regards, Elaine.

Andy provided really engaging sessions for all year groups- from nursery to year 6. The children thoroughly enjoyed working with him and have continued to build on the workshops in their follow up lessons. Staff were also extremely complimentary of the content and pitch of the sessions and Andy’s interaction with the children. Would highly recommend!

this was a great event - the students got so much out of it. Joe's story telling to demonstrate how stories come together was just perfect. Joe was incredibly engaging and got across the key messages that we had discussed prior to him coming. The whole process was easy to arrange and would definitely use Joe in the future.

Sophie's workshops fitted in with our Dyslexia Awareness Week theme of Breaking Down Barriers to use pictures to help tell a story. We have had such positive feedback from both pupils and staff – everybody absolutely loved it and got a lot out of it. Thank you Sophie!
