‘Cas did a fantastically fast moving, thoroughly entertaining talk at the Bath Festival of Children’s Literature.  She had year 6’s hanging off her every word and then bursting into laughter.’

'Cas Lester is a huge hit with Chatterbooks groups.  Her events are excellent: interactive, entertaining and packed with things to think about. The children left full of ideas for writing stories of their own' – The Reading Agency.

My starting point for any school visit is that NOT all children love reading or writing. And even if they do, they might not be into space, or wizards or fairies, or television. . . or whatever.  But I want everyone to have a brilliant time – and to take a lot from the sessions.  So I focus on entertaining and engaging the children, and involving them from the outset.

So we might all romp through some fun facts or some quizzes or a vote for the silliest thing(s) or do a mystery read, play some vocabularly games, and I’ll throw in some extracts from my books, and of course, most importantly,  I'll throw in some reading or writing tips as we go along. (And, after over twenty years of either writing books myself or working with television script writers, I've picked up some pretty top tips to share!)

I should probably warn you my sessions are usually very lively and loud and involve a lot of laughing.  I’ve never done a school visit that I didn’t love, or met a bunch of children who weren’t absolutely wonderful.

Quotes from school children:
‘An extraordinary amazing time’  ‘The best day of school I ever had’
‘I like writing now and I never used to.

And from a teacher:
'The workshop was fantastic. The mix of real examples from the book and top writing tips, inspired the children to create their own amazing characters. The children were thoroughly enthralled and motivated from start to finish.' – Kirtlington School

My visits are £350 a day plus expenses. I live in Oxfordshire, but I’m happy to travel further, especially to: London, Bristol and Manchester areas. I mostly do primary schools.

Please see my website for some of the workshops I already offer – and I’m always happy to invent more.
