I love school visits and I enjoy working with all age groups. My visits are lively, energetic and entertaining as I am very enthusiastic about reading and writing. I have worked in many schools, libraries and community settings throughout Britain over the last fifteen years,  specialising, very successfully, with children and adults with Additional Needs.  Alongside this, I have worked with children who are accommodated by the Local Authority. I have facilitated many excellent Writers Workshops over the years. At present, I am teaching Creative Writing at De Montfort University, Leicester.

My books are suitable for those aged 4 -14 years and all of them encourage children to reflect on their experience of family and school life. On a typical visit I will talk to groups of children about my writing day and the process of writing a book from the initial idea through to publication. I show children how I draft and re-draft my work and many find this encouraging and helpful for their own school work. I am also very willing to work with Post 16 students and adults. After-school parent workshops are included in my fee. These help to encourage a love of reading and writing in families.

I visit schools, libraries or community centres in most areas of the UK and Ireland. My fees are £350 for a day plus travel expenses. I usually travel by train, standard class. No travel expenses for schools in Leicestershire, Lincolnshire or Nottinghamshire. If you would like me to visit your school or community centre or for further information, please email me directly at  If you need help with organising a Book Week or advice about writing, once again, contact me at All enquiries welcome and responded to promptly. I look forward to hearing from you!
