Details

Hello, I'm a Coventry author with more than 30 years experience. I write fiction and non-fiction. My latest book, a reluctant reader teen book, Keeper, was released Jan 2017 bringing the total number of published books to 27, with an historical romance and a crime thriller both being released in 2017. I'm also a freelance writer for various magazines with well over 1,000 articles published. Plus I worked as a feature writer for 13 years at the Coventry Telegraph

I enjoy encouraging others to write and my non-fiction book Become a Writer – a step by step guide is packed full of tips, advice and writing exercises. I also run writing classes for adults, and of course school visits. My children's books tend to be mystery, adventure and thrillers aimed at key stage 2 and YA. One of my books, The Beast has won the Raring2read category in the Coventry Inspiration Book Awards 2013. I'm currently a Patron of Reading for a Coventry senior school.

TALKS AND WORKSHOPS

I find there's nothing better that talking about books and writing with the aim of inspiring others to read and write creatively. My school visits with talks and workshops are tailored to suit individual classes and children. These sessions can be on any aspect of fiction or non-fiction.

I'm also regularly asked to give talks to adult groups on writing and being a writer with all its ups and downs, and as with the school visits, I have always had very pleasing and favourable feedback and comments from these sessions.

KAT WORKSHOPS

KAT stands for Kids and Authors Together – it also stands for Karen and Ann Together. That's myself teaming up with author Karen King (www.karenking.net). Under the KAT banner we offer creative writing talks and workshops for both Key stage 1 and 2. While both authors work individually with all age groups, for KAT sessions, Karen will be working with key stage 1 and I will be working with key stage 2. We do three workshops each – so that's six 40-minute (to an hour) sessions in one day and the fee is less than the Society of Authors' recommended fee for just one author (plus travel expenses if incurred) Additionally, there's a free signed book from each of us as a gift to the school at the end of the day. Bargain!!

TRAVEL

I live in Coventry, West Midlands, but I will travel fairly extensively for school visits. Travel expenses are not incurred for schools in the Coventry and Warwickshire area.

I'm CRB/DBS checked and fully insured for school visits.

Full details about school visits, talks, workshops and course can be found on my website, http://www.annevansbooks.co.uk
