Details

Before becoming a full-time writer I was a teacher and a head of department. Since then I have worked extensivley in education and the community as a     

~ writer in schools
~ writer in residence
~ educational consultant
~ project manager: where I have designed and carried out projects using several writers and other art form practitioners over several education authorities. Many of these resulted in high profile performances at both The Sage, Gateshead and The Customs House South Shields.

In 2007 I was Creative Writing Fellow at Leeds University. I am currently a Visiting lecturer in Creative Writing at Northumbria University.

I have spoken at events for:

I have run creative writing workshops for many years and with all age groups, working for:

~ Durham Literary Festival
~ Beverley Literature Festival
~ Adult Education
~ Newcastle University, Dept of Continuing Education

I have been a visiting tutor for:

~ Sunderland University, specialising in Radio Drama

I design my workshops on the basis of who is attending but try to fit in as much practical and one to one advice as possible.

I am willing to travel nationally and internationally provided travelling expenses are paid and accommodation is provided. My fees are based on the Society of Authors/Arts Council recommendations.

I am willing to consider a variety of writing/workshop commissions.
