A visit from Josh Lacey...

"The day was exciting. It was so cool to have an author in school. I bought his book and I can't put it down, it's great. I was really inspired by him."

"All the children (and parents) had a fabulous time meeting you and I was very impressed with the questions they asked you - all very appropriate and you answered them beautifully."

"Thank you so much for a brilliant visit yesterday. The children were so inspired and to hear an author reading his own words was just amazing."

I regularly visit schools to talk about my books and see these visits as an integral part of my work as a writer. I enjoy meeting readers, inspiring new generations of writers and working with young people on developing their own creativity.

The Grk books

A series of eight adventure stories set in different countries around the world.

"Not since Tintin and Snowy has there been such a touching boy-dog partnership. More, please!” The Times

“An infectious mix of thrills, spills and off-the-cuff humour” The Scotsman

The Dragonsitter

Seven short funny books for younger children, illustrated throughout by Garry Parsons. The first book in the series, The Dragonsitter, was shortlisted for the Roald Dahl Funny Prize.

"This is a witty and perfectly formed little book that deserves to be read and reread: it packs an extraordinary amount of fun and adventure into its 64 pages and will be enjoyed by readers of all ages." Books for Keeps

The Island of Thieves

"Funny and action packed, this well-paced, smartly written crime caper is just the thing for boys of 8+. Uncle Harvey is a wonderful comic creation; more, please." The Times

"One of the best children’s adventure stories of the year." Books for Keeps

Bearkeeper

My novel Bearkeeper would a very useful resource if you’re studying Shakespeare. I'm happy to come to schools and talk about the inspiration behind the book: Shakespeare's life and works - especially Hamlet - and ordinary life in 1601.

“This is a highly enjoyable read that firmly hooks into the turn of the 17th century, triggers interest in Shakespeare's plays and makes you pause to think about cruelties humans inflict on animals, now as well as then.” The Guardian

"Lacey inserts brief segments of history lesson into the narrative, but in such a way that they don't intrude and instead make the past more tangibly real to readers... Bloody, brutal and bold, Bearkeeper informs as it entertains and intrigues as it enlightens." The Financial Times
