Details

I worked as a child actor in the late 50s and was fortunate to work with Laurence Olivier and Vivien Leigh, much of which I have written about in my autobiography, Flashback. I have worked in film, theatre TV and radio as an actor, and have written for TV and theatre, as well as four published books.

I often hold drama workshops for adults, children and teenagers, and also made two short films for Kent County Council youth & community groups.

I also wrote scripts and performed scenarios on Diversity Training for organisations including the Dept. of Trade & Industry and the Crown Prosecution Service

I worked as Writer in Residence for 1 year for The Reading Bus, Aberdeen, teaching creative writing to primary children and academy students, and also produced 36 radio shows for local radio and hosted several of them.

I'm a film buff, and have also given talks to young people on film structure and plot, encouraging them to create their own visual stories.

Finally, if you are interested in theatrical stories, everything from tales of when things didn't go all right on the night to the pitfalls of working in live television, I can provide a hilarious look at the world of theatre, film and TV in an after dinner speech.

"David's work was very varied and included one-off writing workshops, longer term projects that culminated in books of children's writing being published, radio work, drama workshops, reading champion sessions and a series of workshops using art and artefacts as a stimulus for writing." Jenny Watson, Reading Bus Development Officer
