Details

Piers currently has three workshops which work best with students aged 7 – 11. They are all designed to inspire pupils both about reading and writing, as well as asking questions about the world around them.

The talks are suitable both for large all school presentations or smaller classroom visits, as long as multimedia presentation facilities are available.

I prefer to give one workshop followed by a book sales/signing session.

PIERS TORDAY'S STORIES (60 min workshop incl.  Q&A)

Ideal age group: Years 5/6, ages 8 - 11

Using an inventive and interactive presentation, Piers uses his session to tell the children three stories (15 mins each approx.) all sharing the joy of reading and writing.  First, the story of how he started writing and how your pupils can too. He will reveal a never before seen Oompa-Loompa song from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory as he explains how meeting Roald Dahl inspired him to get writing… Next, the real-life story which inspired THE LAST WILD TRILOGY….Finally, the story of stories themselves, and why they are essential to being human, which inspired his latest book, THERE MAY BE A CASTLE. (Times Children’s Book of the Year.)

THE WILD BEYOND EVENT (60mins workshop with Q&A)

Ideal age group: Yrs 6/8, ages 11 - 13

In this visually rich, fact filled presentation for older children, with animations and video, Piers gives the environmental, historical and scientific background to his acclaimed and bestselling LAST WILD Trilogy.

THE STORY IS YOU (45 min workshop)

All ages

Piers will discuss the origination of storytelling and how it inspired his latest acclaimed book, THERE MAY BE A CASTLE, and impart his writing secrets. He will tell students how hard it can be to become an author, but also inspire them to persevere and follow their dreams.

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS:

NB: All events are built around a Keynote presentation for Apple Mac and access to a projector and screen is HIGHLY PREFERABLE but Piers does travel with my own cables, adapters and projector where not available.

PLEASE NOTE: I AM NOW FULLY BOOKED FOR WORLD BOOK DAY 2018 (Many other dates available!)

My preferred days and times for school visits are Wednesday afternoons at 2pm, other days and times of course possible by negotiation.
