Details

I am currently the Royal Literary Fund Writing Fellow at St.Hilda's College, Oxford, but don't let that put you off.  I am just as happy with a classroom of young writers, or giving Shakespeare lectures on a cruise ship. I have a wide experience both of helping writers (of all ages) and of public speaking on a variety of topics.  For five years in the early 90s I was the presenter of Radio 4's popular programme, Poetry Please! and for about ten years was paid by the Guardian to write rude poems about politicians.  I have also written the definitive biography of the world's greatest cricketer, W.G.Grace and can still claim to be an expert on Victorian cricket.  I run my own (tiny) theatre company, Top Edge Productions, and in recent years have branched out into fiction, both for young readers and adults.  I am based in Oxfordshire, which is well placed for travel to most parts of the UK, and would love to hear from anyone who thinks they might be interested in what I have to offer.
