I am a trained teacher of English Language and Literature at the secondary level and gained my Associate degree in Secondary Education (emphasis on English Language/Literature and Social Studies/History) at the local Turks and Caicos Islands Community College in 2010. I continued my education abroad in the UK and acquired a Bachelor of Arts in English from Oxford Brookes University in 2013. I enjoy writing short stories, poems, plays and children's books. I was recently nominated and shortlisted for the London Book Fair Trailblazer Award 2020 which recognises budding publishing professionals in their 20s.
I am passionate about teaching others to write and encouraging children to unlock their creative potential by hosting creative writing workshops. These workshops are conducted in such a way where young, budding writers are encouraged to freely create art through writing, drawing and drama. In addition to teaching and writing, I am also a proofreader/copy editor and owner of an own art production company Let's Create TCI! and a Caribbean based independent publishing company, Cyril and Dorsie Publishing.
I am currently based in Sheffield and willing to travel wherever possible to share the stories of the Turks and Caicos Islands with the world! I enjoy speaking about the importance of creativity, writing and publishing in preserving culture and history in a rapidly modernising world and making this variety of literature accessible for young people.
