Looking for an author to inspire and encourage creative writing in your primary school, who is happy to see nursery/reception children, too?

I’ll work with you to tailor a day to your requirements.

I’m based in Market Harborough, Leics, but enjoy visiting other areas.

I'm currently offering free Skype sessions of around 10-15 minutes to individual classes. During this time, I can read a story or chat about writing to the class. Only one free visit per school please. Additional 30 minute Skype sessions charged @ £50 each.

Thank you so much for an absolutely wonderful day! You were such an inspiration to all the staff and the children here at Westlea. Westlea Primary School, Swindon.

Thank you SO SO SO much for such a brilliant visit. The feedback has been amazingly enthusiastic. The workshops really motivated the children and you managed to pitch them just right for each age group. Your poetry performances had everyone in fits, young and old. A really special day. Many, many thanks for your lovely visit.  The teachers, parents and students have all sung your praises. InternationalSchool of Brussels.

I’m an ex-teacher with lots of experience of visiting primary schools.

If possible, I begin the day with a fun 20 minute poetry performance in the hall to introduce myself to everyone before I go on to visit individual classes etc.

Writing a Picture Book

Being an Author
I talk about the writing process from the initial scribbles through to the finished product. I prefer to do this in a classroom setting so I can show original material and make it chatty, but this can be done as a powerpoint presentation followed by Q and A (max one Key Stage at a time, please)

I’m happy to stay behind after school to meet parents/sell/sign my books if they have been told of my visit in advance.

Charges: £300 for a full day plus travel expenses. I'm happy to quote an all-in price if preferred.

Local (within 40 miles) all-in discount full day rate £250.

Special local half day plus (start time 11am to end of school, lunch break to be included) £150.
