Talk to me about in-person and virtual author visits!

Author of Meet the Oceans, Meet the Weather, When a Dragon Comes to School, My Small World Dinosaurs, The Girl who Planted Trees, Thank You for the Little Things, Girls Can do Anything, How to Grow a Dinosaur, The Princess and the Giant, Whiffy Wilson, Mini Monsters, Sonny Says and many more!

Whether you want a virtual visit, in-person assembly or a full day of activities, I can help boost enthusiasm for books and reading and help you raise literacy attainment in your setting. Children will discover how I used self-belief, hard work and determination to become an author and we'll discuss how books and reading can help them achieve their own dreams. Children might also meet characters from my books, discuss the book's topic, sing songs (with actions!), have fun with book-related crafts or learn new story-writing techniques to create their own work.

I often bring props to help engage children and if you choose sessions on Meet the Oceans or Meet the Weather, I'll also arrive in full costume complete with light up jellyfish umbrella or flashing storm cloud hat and ukulele for accompaniment!

I am friendly, fun and approachable and know how important it is for every child to feel seen and understood. Many of my books promote values of empathy, kindness, friendship, resilience, determination, tolerance and understanding and feature a diverse range or characters. I am used to working with children from all kinds of backgrounds and am confident in managing large or smaller groups.

Teachers often tell me how engaged the children are in my sessions and how they are "buzzing" afterwards. Many have said their children produced their best written work after an in-person or virtual visit.

All my visits include free printable resources and a timetable tailor-made for your setting.

I am also available for teacher training workshops.
