Details

I am a writer/illustrator/animator, best known for creating '64 zoo Lane'.

I was born in Belgium and moved to London to study  at the Royal College of Art, where I made my award-winning  animated film ‘Little Wolf’. After graduating, I  started work on the popular animated TV series ’64 Zoo Lane’, which has been broadcast on the BBC/CBeebies for 14 years now.

I have written and illustrated 14 picture books published by Hodder Children books and Oxford University Press. Most of my stories are  inspired by a love of animals and nature. I have written numerous scripts for children's programmes such as '64 Zoo Lane', 'Florrie's Dragons', 'Bing' and 'Miffy'.

I enjoy visiting schools, libraries and festivals to talk about my books and films. I have 10 years experience in visiting schools. As an author, illustrator and animator, I can offer a variety of lively sessions:

Story Session (Nursery, Reception and Year 1) My story sessions feature a giant toothbrush, bubbles and a very tall giraffe!

How a picture book is made’ session (Year 1 to Year 4)

Writing and Illustrating Workshop (Year 1 and 2)

Animation Session, including zoetrope activity (Year 2 to Year 6)

I usually fit 4 to 6 sessions into a day, including  do a short  session in assembly. I mainly visit schools in London and the South East, but will occasionally travel further afield.

"Thanks for today which I think was a tremendous success on many different levels… We have all had very positive feedback from the parents during parents evening this week." Stanburn First School, Stanmore

" I am just writing to thank you for putting so much time and effort into our World Book Day. The boys thoroughly enjoyed all the activities – the feedback was incredibly positive." Buckingham College Preparatory School, Pinner

"All the children thoroughly enjoyed the day and benefited greatly from the practical nature of the activities." Northwood College, Northwood

"The children in Year 3 thoroughly enjoyed the animated films and were inspired to make their own zoëtropes .... I will be in contact to make another date as we would certainly be interested in doing some animation with the pupils in years 4 - 6." North London Collegiate Junior School, Edgeware
