D J Cattrell (call me Jason) offers schools a variety of workshops aimed at inspiring children to spend more time writing for fun and reading for enjoyment. With 15 years experience in Psychiatry and 10 years experience in Theatre and play writing bringing workshops to life and hearing children giggle en-Masse has become an addiction! I have been visiting schools for the last three years and every single one has been a delight!
I aim my many workshops at inspiring children through laughter and story games. Stories are not about words though they help but about events (think Shaun the Sheep!)
I do 30 minute to 1 hour long interactive talks on writing and playwriting as well as adult workshops and workshops for communities of Home educated children.
I truly believe that making children giggle and create are the best tools to inspire them to become engaged with literacy and so that is what I do.
The two books so far written for children available from me or Amazon or you can order from your own local bookshop.

The workshops are aimed at children of all reading ages and upwards (to the age of 105) and concentrate on learning through fun in large groups (150) or less (3).
I fit my sessions around your schools needs rather than impose my needs onto your school so chat with me and let's use a session that most fits the schools needs.
I also do creative writing workshops for the Essex Book festival and am glad to say each one has been a sell out!
I live in Colchester Essex and can travel to withing around 40miles in any direction. Further if required but I may need more time to arrange childminders for my own kids for after school (2 daughters).
Writing is what makes me and my reader's smile. With a background in Psychiatry and theatre I have learned that fun and creativity are what make us happy in whatever area of life we apply them. I work to inspire and have fun! A review of a session I did at the Iceni Academy in Feb 2018 by Poppy and Anna. "The activity's were hilarious. The first activity was legendary, this workshop was the best thing to do with books and writing ever" by Poppy (The teachers told me that Poppy had never put her hand up in class before the session but never put it down during the session. Poppy's mum gave me the biggest smile ever when buying the second book!) "I really enjoyed when the author came in because the first activity made me laugh. Also one of the reasons I wanted to get his books was because I liked that his daughter said "can you write a book about a bucket with a hole in it!" One of the things I learnt was how to plan a story, which will help me to plan in the future" by Anna
