‘Clare’s story, props, reading style and energy captured the room including all the supporting adults’- Clare Spokes - Maidenhall Primary School

Clare delivers high-energy workshops and assemblies. Using her rhyming picture books, she introduces relatable animal characters that embody different emotions and key values, creating a safe, fun space for students to explore their emotions. Her interactive sessions are designed to help both mainstream and SEND students to understand, express and manage their emotions and behaviour.

For younger pupils (3-8 years old), Clare uses storytelling and interactive input to help children understand their emotions in a simple, relatable way. The stories are helpful prompts for recognising a varied range of emotions, why they may arise, associated physiological reactions, and suggestions on how to manage or support these feelings.

For older pupils (8-12 years old), the workshops are more in-depth and comprehensive, with a focus on discussion-based learning, encouraging students to engage in thoughtful reasoning and critical thinking around emotional experiences and positive mental health. Through open conversations and scenario-based exercises they are encouraged to explore different perspectives, develop emotional resilience, and apply problem-solving strategies.

Clare is also the author of a parenting handbook, The Daesy Dialogue, an easy-to-use talking toolkit she has developed for parents and carers to support children's emotional growth. Her parenting workshops and INSET day seminars are highly praised for being practical and leaving attendants feeling empowered with clear, actionable steps to navigate challenging situations within schools or in the homes.

‘…the children were completely engrossed in it from start to finish. The hall was so quiet, you could have heard a pin drop. The children enjoyed listening to the story … which brought some complex scenarios and feelings forward. The children were eager and comfortable to share their experiences, thoughts and ideas with Clare who valued each child’s contributions. It was a wonderful experience for children and teachers alike.’ Megan Lloyd-Dehler - Granard Primary School

Books by Clare Luther

I write books that help children explore and understand their emotions. My stories have been researched and crafted alongside clinical and educational psychologists, teachers, parents, SENs, bereavement counsellors and children themselves. Each story has a theme covering topics such as separation anxiety, bereavement, bullying, kindness and respect. My books bridge the emotional and conversational gaps between adults and children, making it easier to direct change and encourage emotional resilience and empathy through open dialogue.
