I love visiting schools and libraries and say yes to as many invitations as I can. Please visit my website for biographical info, descriptions of my books, plans for using them in lessons and more info about my presentations including fees.  Briefly I offer:

1. How a book is made - pupils learn about my Writing Recipe, see plans, drafts, proofs etc.

2. Join in with Julia!  - an interactive hands-on session based on picture books. Meet my cuddly characters, sing the cross pirate song, run away from the anaconda and join in with my stories.

3.  Tell me!  Children question me about one or more of my books that they've read. A lively discussion ensues.

I'll mix and match these three presentations to suit specific audiences. Text me on 07970 723163 if you'd like to discuss and I will ring you.

NB I'm now taking bookings for Spring, Summer and Autumn 2022. NB I am already booked for Thursday 3rd March, World Book Day 2022, but there are a couple of days available during that week.

Need a recommendation?

'I first met Julia Jarman when I invited her to our school Book Week. The library had recommended her and I saw why.  She was brilliant! All her sessions were entertaining and informative. The children rushed off afterwards to read her stories or write their own.' V. Pearce, Head, Beaudesert Lower School.

Event feedback

Julia provided engaging and fun reading workshops for all our years groups from reception to Year 6. She led a whole school assembly to kick start the day and did a story telling session of one of her books, which the younger children thoroughly enjoyed.

Abigail Sheldon (Monkfield Park Primary School)

A lovely lady who really engaged both staff and children! Children loved her stories and were excited to get their books signed, she spent time chatting with children and staff and tailored each session for each year group. It really was a fun filled day that we will cherish and remember!

Razina Gaffar (Krishna Avanti Primary School)

An excellent visit the children really enjoyed listening to Julia. Many thanks

Jo Carter (Campton Lower School)

We were lucky enough to have Julia visit us for a whole day. She worked with all the classes in our Infant School from Nursery to Year 2 sharing some of her books and how she writes them. It was such an enjoyable day and wonderful to see the children so enthused about reading and storytelling. Thank you Julia so much for providing the inspiration for lots of exciting writing projects across the school and for starting off our World Book Week in such style!

Susanne Hall-Bailey (Northfields Infants School)

Hi Julia provided a personal message and a video recording for our pupils at Pirton Primary School and Hexton JMI School. The message was warm, funny and as one parent said started her day with a smile. The children loved the message and were spellbound by her story -telling that was full of character. Julia has kindly agreed to visit us in the summer term when restrictions allow. She had been very accommodating over this time and a pleasure to communicate with. We can't wait to meet her.

Colette Pidgeon (Hexton primary school)

Julia Jarman is an amazing lady. She worked with all age groups - nursery up to year 6. She really brings her books alive. The children found her a real inspiration as she told them their attempts to write do not have to be perfect first time. She was a source of great information about how she writes her books and shared her recipe for writing stories. She took the time after school to not only sign books children had bought but to write a personal message. It was a fantastic day.

Rosmarie Jones (st mary magdalene school)

Books by Julia Jarman

I've written lots of books, some for teens, the majority for infant and junior children. Historical Novels Review described 'The Time Travelling Cat and the Egyptian Goddess', first in the series, as 'a bright lively read for 8-12 year old'. Kids Out said the series, 'Might do much to spark a new interest in history.' My picture books have been read on television and Big Red Bath has been adapted by Full House Theatre for the stage. My latest picture book, 'Fussy Freda', is a cautionary tale about unhealthy eating. 'Cheeky Chick', coming soon, is a fun tale that combines, counting practice, and lessons on stranger danger and the life cycle of a chicken.
