I am a writer, poet-storyteller and performer and I work with people of all ages and from different walks of life. I've given storytelling performances in theatres, told stories in hundreds of schools and community venues and have explored creative writing with many groups. I also work in corporate settings delivering Storytelling for Business programmes and I lead Speaking and Presentation Skills workshops.
I have a deep interest in myths and traditional stories and am passionate about the insight and wisdom they can offer in the modern world. ‘The Woodcutter’s Tale,’ a fairy tale for all ages, is being published in Sept 2019 by Ragged Bears Ltd. I offer a range of writing and creative arts workshops across the UK to accompany the story which promotes an appreciation of the natural world and its beauty. These sessions include Storytelling for all Key Stages, Storytelling & Storymaking Workshops, Storytelling through Drama & Movement, Poetry & Creative Writing and Bookmaking. I write, perform and independently produce my own work for theatre and community spaces and often collaborate with other artists. In 2015 I performed “Watchers of the Skies” with musician Simon McCorry at the Ledbury Poetry Festival. This piece tells the story of my American grandmother, Edna Florence Leigh, who embarked on a dramatic voyage across the Atlantic at the end of World War Two. She then undertook a very different sort of journey which led her deep into the heart of ancient cultures and to the discovery of astronomy in Homer's epic poems. This show will tour again in 2020 with a series of writing workshops.
I am a member of the National Association of Writers in Education, Lapidus ( Words for Wellbeing), and Equity.
