I have written two books on screen adaptations of Shakespeare, "Shakespeare on Screen" (2000) and "100 Shakespeare Films" (2007), and given hundreds of illustrated talks on this subject at schools and colleges across the UK. I also specialise in the history of London's National Theatre, having written "The National Theatre Story" (2013), an award-winning 50th anniversary biography of the NT, and edited "Dramatic Exchanges: The Lives and Letters of the National Theatre" (2018), a collection of correspondence, described by the "Daily Mail" as "the best book on the performing arts in years".
