Kimberly discusses the inspiration behind her writing, her journey to becoming an author, and themes in Quiet Storm including confidence and self-esteem.
Students explore why stories are important and will be given their own writing challenge which will leave them feeling inspired to pick up a pen and write their own. Kimberly's talk will be followed by a book signing.
1. Transition to Secondary School
Students will explore the leap from primary to secondary school using Quiet Storm as a backdrop. With engaging activities along the way students will explore friendship, confidence, and coping with change as they look forward to starting Year 7.

2. Confidence & Self-Esteem
Kimberly will take students on a confidence building journey. Using Quiet Storm as a backdrop students will understand what it means to have self-belief and will leave with a big confidence boost! Exploring strategies to develop self-esteem, Kimberly will show students that everyone deserves to shine, and will finish by creating a positive affirmation mood board.

3. Building Confidence through Sport
Using Quiet Storm as a backdrop students will explore how playing sports can develop confidence and self-esteem. Students will explore how sport helped Storm develop confidence, and how they can use sports to develop their own self-esteem. Students will complete team building activities, create their own positive affirmations, and will finish with creating their own celebration pose.

4. Girls in Sports
Using Quiet Storm as a backdrop students will explore themes around girls in sport. Students will explore how sport helped Storm develop confidence, and how they can use sports to develop their own mental health. Kimberly will take students on a journey showing them inspirational female figures in sporting history. Exploring the barriers which girls face in sport and how they can overcome these challenges, students will finish by creating a 'girls in sport' collage which will inspire them to pursue sports for years to come.

5. Writing for Wellbeing
Using Quiet Storm as a backdrop students will explore creative writing. Kimberly will take students on a journey by showing them how to use writing as a tool for self-esteem. Exploring the power of words and using Quiet Storm as inspiration, students will create their own self portrait poems.

Kimberly was absolutely fantastic and the girls loved meeting her. They really got a well-deserved confidence boost from the session she led, and the activities were so accessible to all ability-levels in the group.
