Nigel Blackman visited Church Street Library on the 11th of December to do an author talk and performed three sessions, sixty children altogether attended. It was fantastic, he read a few chapters of his novel The Dinoteks, secret dinosaurs, which was an amazing story of a forgotten room at the museum and a secret is about to be revealed. It is a story of the Dinoteks part robot and part dinosaur who is discovered by Marlin and about the adventures of what happens with the secret dinosaurs when the Horrible Mr Grubbler who is in charge of the museum has got his beady eyes on Marlin, and Marlin who tries to keep it a secret from him.Nigel also told the story along side the story with power point of all the amazing illustrations he created along side the story. Nigel was brilliant, friendly, warm and engaged the groups through his story telling and illustrations. Very talented and a amazing writer full of imagination. The children loved him.

Luke as always was amazing! From the initial assembly to 270 Year 9, to the smaller groups all day, he was entertaining, informative and inspirational. Our students love meeting him, and gain such a lot from developing their understanding of writing. Inserting "Grow" into our Year 9 curriculum was forward thinking, and it always pays off.

What can we say? Amazing. Not only were Paul's workshops fantastic, with overwhelmingly positive feedback, he was also such a nice presence to have at our lit fest. He attended other workshops and took part and was a joy to have around. We'd book Paul again in a heartbeat.

We had a really positive experience with Lou visiting us at school. She held an assembly with both KS1 and KS2 and then did a variety of age-appropriate workshops with Years 2 - 6. All of our children were engaged and enthused by Lou's visit and really enjoyed the activities that she did with them. Lou herself was great in the build up to the visit, keeping in constant contact with us, being very flexible around the school day timings and even provided us with some of her books to add to our school library! Lou also held a small book sale after school so parents and children could purchase her fantastic texts afterwards which was well received. We would 100% have Lou back to visit our school, she provided us with an excellent enrichment day for our English curriculum!

Dr. Jones gave an excellent talk for us. She was very responsive to emails and let us host a virtual event even though she is not confident with technology. We are so grateful to have been able to connect with her and offer our audience a wonderful experience!

My feedback for the author:
Thank you so much for attending our school. Your story was beautiful and inspiring to the children, but also myself. Your presentation was engaging and has left a lasting impact on the children who have been asking when we can write a book in school! Your workshop allowed the children to express creatively, and you accommodated to all learning needs and abilities. The extra resources you brought in allowed the children to support their learning which was fantastic.

We would like to say thank you to Tim for all his hard work at Storyfest! He was brilliant at the schools and very obliging when we asked him to visit 2 different schools and cover a large audience, plus hosting a session and meeting children in the library the following day. He was very adaptable and the children loved his puzzles. Tim fully participated in the Storyfest day at the Library and we would love to have him back sometime if he was willing!

Thank you so much for visiting our school. The children have been really inspired by your visit and two of them even sent their stories to me via email the very next day after your visit. The children enjoyed the workshops and assembly and staff were positive about the experience too. We all wish you look with sales of The night whale and are all looking forward to hearing about any more new releases of yours as they come up. You now hold a special place in our reading culture across the school. Thank you once again for your visit and inspiration. x

Ray is such a lovely author to meet and the children loved her workshops. I really enjoyed how Ray started the workshops by talking about she invented her book characters and what made them special. Ray created resources which were appropriate for the children and she shared how important it is to visualise the settings in a story. Thank you for enriching the children with a love of reading and I would love for Ray come back to us soon!
