Simon did a really inspiring whole school assembly about not giving up, which really captured children of all ages in our school. His books also have the unique selling point of his daughter being an illustrator, which the children also loved. The workshops were really fantastic for the children to be part of, but he is probably slighter more appropriate for KS2 than KS1 in terms of workshops with his books. Either way, the kids really did enjoy having him in school as a diverse, male role model in writing and reading for them to look up to!

Richy was both professional and extremely inspiring to both teachers and staff. He motivated the students in both sessions, and had an open manner that made all kinds of students comfortable to ask questions and join in.
He was also very well organised and a strong communicator, both before (for example, planning the event with staff) and on the day, talking to a wide range of students and staff. He was passionate, not only about the industries he works in, but also topics such as reading for pleasure, promoting literacy, and following your passions in life, all topics that students responded very well to.
We would definitely recommend Richy to other educational settings, and in fact already have- he was brilliant.

Sophie Ambrose was part of our virtual assembly where she shared some of her stories and illustrations with the pupils. The purpose for the visit was to amuse, enthuse and encourage our reluctant readers about the importance of reading. We believe that the visit will have a lasting impact on our pupils.
Sophie introduced the idea that drawing a character is an uneven process for everyone – even her. Students learnt that their favourite books start as bad first drafts and become better through revision and feedback, and kids develop an understanding that their own writing can improve this way as well.
Throughout the day each year group took part in workshops where they learnt more about the steps of story writing . Pupils drew their own interesting characters using their imagination with some of the characters being giants and some being very small. Pupils were fully engaged in the workshops and were able to ask some good questions.
Cameron said: “Her drawings were interesting.”
Saskia said: “ It was cool learning how to bring Characters to life.”
Mackenzie said: “ It was interesting learning how to make a book.”

What can I say! We had such a fantastic day with Danielle. Firstly, she conducted engaging and inspirational assemblies for our Year 9 and 10 cohorts. This has already led to increased interest, not only in her own novels, but also the likes of Malorie Blackman, Alice Oseman, Patrice Lawrence, Dean Atta and Angie Thomas. Some of the students who previously showed little interest in writing as a career have already approached me to discuss further some of the ideas Danielle suggested yesterday.
This was followed by two writing workshops with some of our Y7 and Y8 students. During this time the students created the most wonderful poetry after a free-writing exercise.
I highly recommend inviting Danielle Jawando to spend time in your school. She provided our students with a lovely day, sharing her knowledge and experience in an approachable and relatable manner. We look forward to her return visits in the future. Thank you Danielle.

Kate came to us on World Book Day which was fantastic to have a real-life author in the school to help promote and foster a love of reading. She was a lovely lady who held a whole school assembly where she awarded prizes for different competitions the school held (potato character and book bingo) and then workshops for Years 1 to 4 throughout the day. Kate also spent time with Reception reading them a book. Our children enjoyed having Kate in for the day and the activities she did.
One of the activities Kate did was to read a repeating poem which had the children hooked. She then orally created one with them as a whole year group. I would have liked to see the children then split into groups to create their own repeating poem and the shared these with the rest of the group. It would have then showed the children that they are all writers and authors and given them something to take home at the end of the day.

We really enjoyed Emma's visit to Keevil school. All the teachers agreed that she was very good fun, held the children's attention, "got the measure" of any tricky children and was generally really lovely! We would highly recommend her. Thanks Emma

Lou was fantastic. She had lovely props to help her to tell her story. It was interactive for the children and they were totally engaged in the story. She was mindful if their age and got them involved by teaching them a song. The children loved it. I would highly recommend Lou.

Andy was incredible at raising the profile of reading and writing for pleasure. From the beginning he was friendly, had a really good relationship with the children and had us all laughing. I had really good feedback from staff about the workshops he ran right from reception to year 6, which is very impressive. He helped to achieve our aim of encouraging reading for pleasure and all the children wanted to do was read his books!
Thank you Andy for a great day and an experience the children will never forget.

We were visited by Emilie last week and the pupils were completely engaged with her speech for the entire session and have taken away some fantastic ideas to get involved with their own poetry writing. She was professional and had a brilliant rapport with pupils straight away.

We really enjoyed our visit from Lou. She was incredibly accommodating and agreed to work with all of our year groups. Teachers reported that the children really enjoyed the workshops, and many were so excited about the ideas that she gave them that they wanted to continue writing their stories at home! It was a great day and she inspired us all.

Hi there! Cat's visit was very interesting. She worked with various school children and they really enjoyed her sessions. She is a very good storyteller and also animates her sessions with music and drama. She is very good in eliciting stories from the students to draft their ideas on paper. Thank you dear Cat for making for your visit in Malta a wonderful experience for us all! :)

Simon was fantastic. He inspired the children across Key Stage 2 with his life story and how he never gave up in his dream to publish a book. He motivated children to become readers and writers and was perfect for World Book Week.

An spent the whole day with us at school on March 5th 2020 and ran three workshops.
The workshops were enjoyed by children and staff. An told her stories, explained how books are made and how she had become an author. This matched well with our whole school focus on literacy. Workshops were fun and interactive, each group were left with a follow up task. Would recommend to other schools without hesitation. Thanks An!

Julia provided engaging and fun reading workshops for all our years groups from reception to Year 6. She led a whole school assembly to kick start the day and did a story telling session of one of her books, which the younger children thoroughly enjoyed.
