Hello! I'm currently offering visits to pre-schools, EYFS and KS1 for World Book Day (and week!) 2025. Both assemblies and class workshops are available to suit whatever you are after. I'm Bristol-based and I am happy to travel to schools in the surrounding area.

Age Range: 3-7 years (Pre-School, EYFS & KS1)

Format: I can tailor an event to suit your needs. Pink Trucks is perfect for both younger (Pre-School & EYFS) children due to the easy-to-follow, rhythmical story, as well as older KS1 children, who can take more from the themes explored. I have often found that events where I've presented a shorter assembly for EYFS children, followed by a slightly longer KS1 assembly straight after, have been the most successful.

What to expect: The session will include fun games around colour ‘rules’ (purple carrots, anyone?!) and favourite toys (gently looking at gender stereotypes). I will be looking for young 'Pink Truckers' to join in with a fun and noisy reading of the book (trucker caps and honking horns provided!) and he'll bring along his own homemade pink truck, complete with (magic?) flashing lights! It promises to be an exciting, interactive and attention-grabbing session!

Some very kinds things teachers and librarians have said about previous visits:

Your engaging storytelling and the important message of breaking stereotypes totally hooked our young audience.  The feedback from both children and teachers has been overwhelmingly positive. Many children have expressed newfound confidence in pursuing their interests, regardless of societal expectations - Laura Dowlman, Head of School, Ashton Gate Primary School

Sam provided an engaging, entertaining and informative assembly about his new book, Pink Trucks. The children loved how he brought the picture book to life, showing them the process of creating the illustrations, telling them about the inspiration behind his idea and showing them his illuminating pink truck! - Hannah Walker, Head of Year 1, Bishop Road Primary School

The children really enjoyed listening to the story and loved looking at the bright and colourful illustrations.  It was a really fun, engaging and interactive session. We loved the book and it's message about individuality and it was great for the children to meet a 'real life' author!' - Jen Gibbs, Year 2 Teacher, May Park Primary School

Sam's event was incredibly well planned and the children were completely absorbed when he shared Pink Trucks with them. Sam changed his presentation very slightly for each year group so that everyone was fully engaged at all times, and the interactions were perfect for all ages. - Sally Hamerton, Librarian, Two Mile Hill Primary School

The children were fully engaged in an immersive storytelling experience! They absolutely loved the story of 'Pink Trucks' and especially enjoyed being involved with telling the story using horns and wearing pink caps! The children have asked to hear the story again and again! Thanks Sam! -Sam Ford, EYFS Teacher, Ashton Gate Primary School

All pupils were really engaged and enjoyed all of the pink facts.  Guessing the coloured item was a particular highlight! Everyone enjoyed the story and it was nice to debunk the idea that pink is a 'girls' colours. If you ever want to sell some light up pink trucks, I'm sure you would be very successful - every child wanted one! - Mrs H, Year 2 Teacher, Two Mile Hill Primary School

A pricing guide can be found in the schools section of my website, but please feel to contact me to discuss anything particular you had in mind.

Pink Trucks

Stink loves trucks. Stink has HUGE trucks, FAST trucks, NOISY trucks, even special SPACE trucks. He has BLACK, BLUE, RED and little WHITE trucks. But Stink likes PINK . . . Can trucks be PINK? When Stink’s quest for a PINK truck leads to a dead-end, his big sister helps him to make one out of recycled toys. In a surprising plot twist, Stink reveals his new PINK truck to his friends hidden under a truck-print blanket, which his friend Ned cannot wait to wrap around his dolly!
