About Me
I am Apet Ashley, co-founder of Rich Minds Rich Kids. With over 15 years of experience in finance and property in the UK, I identified a significant gap that could shape the future of countless children. Driven by my passion for financial literacy and a love for storytelling, my business partner Gabs and I embarked on a mission to make money management not only understandable but also exciting for young minds.
Rich Minds Rich Kids is the brand I co-founded, where I serve as co-author and lead facilitator for talks and workshops. I am dedicated to teaching children the principles of financial literacy through fun, engaging, and easily digestible content. My debut book, *Zac and Tia and the Amazing Toyshop*, is more than just a story; it’s a financial adventure designed for children aged 5 and older. Through a relatable tale about returning toys on time, children learn fundamental money concepts such as responsibility, paying bills, and understanding credit. The learning experience doesn’t stop there; the book also includes comprehension questions, interactive activities, and even a board game, transforming financial education into an immersive experience for the whole family.
Growing up, I loved reading books and writing short stories. As I matured, I shifted to self-help books, and the information always lingered with me. I often wondered why these important topics weren't included in books for children, especially those focused on money management. Noticing that children begin to grasp the concept of money as early as age 6, I decided to impart these principles to them through the adventures of Zac and Tia, which opened opportunities for me to share my passion in schools via workshops and talks.
Starting in October 2024, I have enjoyed great success selling books at fairs and online. I have been invited to numerous schools and have gained recognition as an impactful visionary. This led to an invitation to speak on a panel with one of the big four accountancy firms, Deloitte.
About the Workshops
In our workshops, we teach children the fundamentals of money management, including responsibility, credit, saving, and teamwork. Through storytelling, games, and technology, we make learning engaging and fun.
I believe that financial literacy is not just for adults; it's a crucial skill that should be cultivated early to lay the foundation for a brighter, financially empowered future.
Topics covered are:
Money Management principles
Storytelling
Character Building
Games and Activities
Arts and Craft
Animation Creation
Our workshops are character-led, featuring my characters Zac and Tia, who help bring the concept of responsibility to life in a fun and relatable way. The workshops are integrated with the school curriculum, aligning with existing PSHE lessons and promoting social development through collaborative activities. We provide comprehensive resource pages as well.
A full day in a school, learning money principles through games, creativity, and technology is available for £600. Each day, I can conduct a maximum of 4 classes, with approximately 30 children per class.
